Hartbeeps is like no other baby group I have been to before. It is an interactive, multi-sensory, imaginitive play for babies and toddlers. The 45 minute session incorporates baby signing, music, baby yoga and baby massage. The production is designed to awaken and stimulate your baby’s senses. The use of props, puppetry, lighting and a sparkly parachute adds to all the excitement.
Hartbeeps have their own original songs and remixed nursery rhymes. You can listen to snippets via their website and purchase their CDs. My current favourite is “Inanay” which is a traditional aboriginal song. India loves sounds and music, so I like to sing to her when were at home together. I find it calming and relaxing for us both especially when we do baby massage together. Hartbeeps helps parents to become more confident and creative through interactive play. A lot of effort and consideration has been put into the Hartbeeps production and this is really shown in the class. It encourages parents to loosen up and have fun. The class really emphasises on unwinding and bonding with your baby.
I went during the month of December, so the classes Christmas themed, which I’m all up for. India wore festive outfits and we were given props such as elf hats and reindeer ears. The theme was winter wonderland, with complimentary songs, of course. The class was upbeat and energetic with our babies in our laps for the majority of the session. India loved the bubbles, as it was her first time seeing them. She was fascinated by all the other babies, rolling toward them and desperately trying to interact, bless her. Towards the end of the session we took a moment to wind down, dim the lights, hold our babies and sing to them softly.
There are Hartbeeps classes all over the country, so it shouldn’t be hard to find a class near you. Classes can be booked online. You can book a drop in class if you can’t commit to a whole term. It is best to book at the start of the term, as the classes get booked up very quickly. I joined half way through the winter term, so I was lucky enough to get a space. The classes are grouped by ages from newborn to 5 years old. India is in the Baby Bells group for newborns to confidently sitting. I honestly cannot recommend Hartbeeps enough. India has just started her second term and as long as she’s still enjoying it I will continue to take her.
